Aces: Ortio back to Abbotsford, Brossoit back to Alaska

According to AHL transactions on the league web page, the Abbotsford Heat have recalled goaltender Joni Ortio, who just won two games in Las Vegas for the Aces, and assigned goalie Laurent Brossoit back to the Aces.

Ortio for Alaska went 3-1-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average, .944 save percentage and two shutouts. He was in net Sunday -- he made 18 saves -- for Alaska's 3-0 win at Las Vegas to wrap a three-game sweep.

He most likely is on a plane east today -- the Heat next play in Utica, N.Y., on Wednesday to open a three-game roadie.

Brossoit, a rookie, has yet to play a regular-season game for the Aces -- he did play in one exhibition game. In the AHL, he made two appearances for the Heat, one in relief. His first pro start didn't go well -- he gave up nine goals.

Looks like the Heat, the Aces' affiliate, will be rotating Ortio and Brossoit between Alaska and Abbotsford. In Abbotsford, each is the back-up to Reto Berra, who is 4-3-1 with a 2.38 goals-against average and .918 save percentage.

The Aces next play Friday, when they open a three-game homestand against Bakersfield at Sullivan Arena.
