Power has been restored to about 1,900 homes and businesses in South Anchorage that lost service Monday evening after a vehicle hit a switch cabinet near the Dimond Center.

Chugach Electric Association spokesman Phil Steyer said the crash occurred around 7 p.m. close to Old Seward Highway and East Dimond Boulevard. Power returned by about 8:30 p.m.

The customers in the area had not been affected by the storm-related outages elsewhere earlier Monday that the company was still working to repair, Steyer said.

"It's been a long, busy day," he said.
