Erstwhile Aces goalie Ortio gets AHL win; ECHL haves, have-nots

Joni Ortio, recently promoted back to the AHL's Abbotsford Heat after winning three straight starts, two of them shutouts, for the Alaska Aces, picked up an AHL win in relief tonight.

After Heat starter Reto Berra surrendered three goals on nine shots in the first period, Ortio took over and back-stopped Abbotsford to a 5-4 OT win by stopping 17 of 18 shots.

Meanwhile, around the ECHL, there still remain four teams that have not lost in regulation and three than have not won a game.

The Haves: Florida improved to 6-0-0 -- five of those wins on the road -- with Tuesday's 5-3 win at Las Vegas; Cincinnati improved to 4-0-0 with a 4-3 win at Toledo tonight; Evansville sits at 3-0-0 and South Carolina is 4-0-1.

The Have-Nots: Bakersfield, which opens a three-game series here against the Aces on Friday night, is 0-3-1; Fort Wayne is 0-1-2 and Kalamazoo is 0-2-0.

Also in the ECHL, Orlando lost 4-3 in a shootout at Gwinnett tonight -- that got Gwinnett (1-4-0 off the schneid) -- but former Aces center Zach Harrison scored a goal for Orlando to give him 4-1--5 totals in six games.

Harrison enjoyed a breakout season with Alaska last season, with a career-high 14 goals in the regular season and seven goals in 11 playoff games.
