Aces to host ECHL's Hockey Heritage Weekend, Feb. 7-8

With no ECHL All-Star Game this season, the league has opted for a Hockey Heritage Weekend, celebrating the league and inducting the latest class of the circuit's Hall of Fame, and the Alaska Aces will host the event at Sullivan Arena.

The Stanley Cup will be in the house, according to the ECHL, so you can check out the name of former Aces center Scott Gomez on it -- he won it with the New Jersey Devils in 2000 and 2003.

The Aces and Stockton Thunder will wear throwback jerseys for their Feb. 7-8 games -- expect those sweaters to reflect the two teams' NHL affiliates, Calgary for the Aces, New York Islanders for the Thunder (used to be Edmonton, has we initially had here before awesome reader Molly rattled The Blog's brain).

Exhibits on display at Sullivan that weekend will honor both Alaska hockey history and ECHL history.
