Aces will host ECHL's "Hockey Heritage Weekend'' in February

October 31, 2013

— What normally would be just another Alaska Aces home series in February has been transformed into an ECHL extravaganza.

The Aces' games against the Stockton Thunder at Sullivan Arena on Feb. 7-8 have been branded "Hockey Heritage Weekend'' and will include the appearance of the Stanley Cup, the induction of the seventh class of the league's Hall of Fame and events honoring the history of hockey in Alaska and the ECHL.

The Aces and Thunder will play wearing "unique jerseys'' -- think throwback sweaters -- on their NHL affiliates, the Calgary Flames for Alaska and the New York Islanders for Stockton.

The activities -- more will be announced later, according to the league and the Aces -- mark the debut of "Hockey Heritage Weekend.''

The ECHL will not conduct an All-Star Classic this season, so the Hall of Fame class will be inducted as part of the weekend's festivities.

The next ECHL All-Star Classic is set for Jan. 21, 201, in Orlando, Fla.
