Devils activate Schneider, place Harrold on IR

Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New Jersey Devils announced Sunday that goaltender Cory Schneider was activated from injured reserve.

Schneider had been sidelined for a week with a lower-body injury. Prior to the setback, the 27-year-old went 1-3-2 with a 2.14 goals-against average and pitched a 4-0 shutout over the Rangers.

In addition, defenseman Peter Harrold was placed on IR, retroactive to Oct. 28, and defenseman Jon Merrill was recalled from Albany of the American Hockey League.

Harrold, like Schneider a Boston College product, has yet to record a point in nine games this season, and carries a minus-six rating.
