Looks like Brossoit will stay with Aces

Trickle-down/affiliation news for the Alaska Aces today.

The Calgary Flames, the Aces' NHL affiliate, today assigned goaltender Joey MacDonald to the Abbotsford Heat, the AHL affiliate for Calgary and the Aces. That move came after MacDonald cleared waivers.

MacDonald's assignment to Abbotsford means rookie goaltender Laurent Brossoit will stick with the Aces for now. He pitched a 16-save shutout Saturday in Alaska's 5-0 win over Bakersfield in his first ECHL start.

Brossoit is part of the Aces' tandem with Mark Guggenberger. Ortio is starting today against Bako in the series finale.

Joni Ortio, who went 3-1-0 for the Aces before being assigned back to Abbotsford, will team with MacDonald as Abbotsford's tandem.
