Erstwhile Aces goalie Ortio killin' it in the AHL

Many times, when an Alaska Aces player gets promoted to the AHL, we know he'll be back soon enough -- he's just up because someone got hurt up there, and as soon as the injured party is healthy, the Ace will return to Anchorage.

Sometimes, though, you wonder if a departure marks the last time the guy is seen at Sullivan Arena.

Goaltender Joni Ortio, for the moment, falls into the latter category.

Ortio on Tuesday night racked 23 saves to backstop the Abbotsford Heat to a 2-1 AHL victory over visiting San Antonio.

Ortio has been a rock since getting promoted out of the ECHL -- for Abbotsford, he's gone 4-0-0 with a 1.84 goals-against average and .936 save percentage.

For the Aces, the 22-year-old Finn went 3-1-0 with a 1.01 goals-against average, .944 save percentage and two shutouts.

So, you know, he's having an OK season.
