JUNEAU, Alaska — The latest state and federal oil and gas lease sales generated about $8.5 million.
The state leased about 160,000 acres on the North Slope and about 5,100 acres in the Beaufort Sea, with winning bids totaling about $5.6 million. The Department of Natural Resources reported bids on 89 North Slope tracts and two in the Beaufort. No bids were received for the North Slope Foothills sale. About 3,100 total tracts were offered.
The department said the most active bidder was Anchorage-based NordAq Energy Inc.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management reported its lease sale in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska generated about $2.9 million. It involved 22 tracts covering 245,000 acres.
BLM offered about 400 tracts comprising about 4.5 million acres for lease.
Bids were announced Wednesday.
