Update 4:53 p.m.:

The Girdwood Fire Department was able to get the man out of his truck at about 3:30 p.m., said Megan Peters, troopers spokeswoman.

She said he was taken to an Anchorage hospital.

Girdwood Fire Lt. William Parry said the man appeared to have minor injuries when firefighters slid him out of a hole in the truck's roof.

He said the man's truck flipped a couple of times before hitting a few trees.

He said the road was icy and frosted over when the man lost control of his truck. The truck didn't have winter tires, he said.

Parry said as of about 4:45 p.m., 20 out of the 100 calls to dispatch in Anchorage have been vehicle accidents with injuries.

"It's that one day, that we're all very familiar with unfortunately," he said.

Earlier story:

A pickup truck rolled over off the Seward Highway near Indian on Saturday afternoon, and a man was trapped inside, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said the man was injured but it wasn't immediately clear how badly he was hurt. He was the only person in the vehicle, she said.

The highway wasn't closed, she said.

Troopers received a call at about 2:30 p.m. reporting that the truck was flipped on its roof against a tree near Boretide Road by Turnagain Arm Pit BBQ with one man inside, Peters said Megan Peters.

Road conditions in the area were reported to be slick, according to the state Department of Transportation.
