NHL Central Scouting eyeing 2 Alaskans

NHL Central Scouting today released its November list of players to watch in anticipation of next summer's draft, and two Alaskans were among the players.

Central Scouting rates both goaltender Eric Schierhorn of Anchorage and forward Justin Gutierrez of Anchorage as "C'' prospects -- that's means they could conceivably be picked anywhere from the fourth round to the sixth round.

Schierhorn, 17, plays for the USHL's Muskegon Lumberjacks. The 6-foot-, 184-pounder is 4-4-0 with a 2.35 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage that ranks fifth on the circuit.

Gutierrez, 17, is a 6-4, 184-pounder who plays for the Tri-City Americans in the Western Hockey League. In 22 games this season, he owns 1-8--9 totals -- the nine points match his production in 48 games last season, his first full campaign in the WHL.
