Summerhays rocks his 9th college shutout

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on November 15, 2013

Notre Dame senior goaltender Steve Summerhays of Anchorage racked his third shutout of the season, and ninth of his career, with 31 saves in a 4-0 Hockey East victory over visiting Merrimack.

Not only that, but he furnished his second assist of the season, getting the helper on a goal from Mario Lucia, whose Alaska connection is that he was born in Fairbanks. (Mario's old man is Don, the current Minnesota coach and former UAF head coach and UAA assistant coach).

Summerhays now owns four career assists -- he had two last season and owns two this season.

He's 8-2-0 with a 1.64 goals-against average and .937 save percentage.
