A young Soldotna man and a teenage boy were arrested Saturday after throwing a lit Molotov cocktail into traffic, the Alaska State Troopers said.

Elijah Jackson, 20, and a 17-year-old male whose name was not released threw the makeshift firebomb into Arlyann Avenue in Soldotna Nov. 16, almost striking a passing car with two people inside, according to a trooper dispatch posted online.

"Apparently it was a random throw and they didn't see car coming around the curve," said Beth Ipsen, a spokeswoman for the Alaska State Troopers.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Troopers arrived at the site of the incident at 6:52 p.m. and arrested both Jackson and the teenager, troopers said.

Both are being charged with third degree assault and reckless endangerment.

The 17-year-old is being charged as a juvenile, Ipsen said.
