Letter: East dance performance superb

November 19, 2013

Friday, Nov. 1, I attended a performance of Dance Contempo at East High School. I went because a teenage friend had invited me. I was blown away! The performance was an hour and 15 minutes of well-choreographed dancing, attractive costumes, professional introductions including references to history, mythology and cultures. The diverse music and dance was performed with near precision.

I have taught for 28 years, and I am in awe of the teacher, Lucia Wooley, and the assistant director, Ariel Graham, who have not settled for anything less than hard work and high standards. Those 45 students have worked many hours, including after school, to present a performance of which each one can be proud. They have earned a strong foundation to take on future challenges.
