Letter: Parnell best be ready with ideas

November 19, 2013

We disagree with Gov. Parnell’s Medicaid decision. Yet let’s take him at his word that he will address gaps in health care access for many Alaskans.

Beyond including legislators, will he invite advocates for the poor to join his Advisory Group, such as the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, AFACT, the health community, and others? Will he readily provide information to the public?

But nothing on-the-street until after the FY 2016 budget? With all the current interest and expert reports, a path with finite actions finished in six months should be doable and could be presented this summer to Gov. Parnell and candidate-for-governor Byron Mallott.
