Red Sox acquire Badenhop from Brewers

Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Red Sox have acquired pitcher Burke Badenhop from the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for minor league pitcher Luis Ortega.

Badenhop was 2-3 with a 3.47 ERA in 63 relief appearances for the Brewers last year. He finished the campaign with a 2.05 ERA over his last 21 games.

The 30-year-old right-hander has a career mark of 18-20 with three saves and a 3.98 ERA in 280 games, all but 10 out of the bullpen, with the Marlins (2008-11), Rays (2012) and Brewers (2013).

Ortega, a 20-year-old lefty, was 3-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 12 games for the Gulf Coast League Red Sox at the rookie level in 2013.
