Duke's Cobb, Arkansas' DesJarlais will meet in soccer Sweet 16

Anchorage Daily NewsNovember 22, 2013

An Alaskan will play in the NCAA Division I women’s soccer quarterfinals. We just won’t know which one until Sunday.

Chugiak’s Kelly Cobb and Service’s Vonnie DesJarlais will play on opposite sides of the pitch Sunday when their teams meet in the Sweet 16 of the tournament.

Cobb plays for Duke and DesJarlais plays for Arkansas, and both teams picked up third-round victories Friday in Durham, N.C.

Cobb’s Blue Devils knocked off sixth-ranked Florida 1-0 and DesJarlais’ Razorbacks stopped Wake Foreset 1-0. The wins advanced both teams to a Sweet 16 showdown Sunday in Durham.
