Prep hockey: Saturday's results

West 3, Service 1

Garen Teders and Ilya Turchaninov each scored a goal and an assist Saturday night to power West’s 3-1 Cook Inlet Conference hockey win over Service at Ben Boeke Arena.

West led 2-1 after one period on goals by Teders and Kevin Hodsdon. Tyler Miknich’s struck with 1:32 left to keep Service close.

West made it a two-game game midway through the third period with Turchaninov’s goal.

Joe Chekan stopped 18 shots for West; Angus Klancher stopped 23 for Service.


North Pole 3, Eagle River 2

Behind goals from Thomas Rojas, Carmon Teel and Dylan Latham, North Pole knocked off Eagle River 3-2 Saturday in a nonconference high school hockey game at the Polar Ice Center in North Pole. 

Kyle Johnson and Wyatt Beebe each recorded second-period goals for Eagle River for a 2-2 tie, but Latham struck for the game-winner with 16 seconds to play in the frame. 

A.J. Hebert dished two assists for North Pole, and goalie Jimmy Culley made 18 saves. 

Jesse Johnson picked up an assist on Eagle River’s first goal, and goalie Jason Johnson stopped 22 shots.
