Ex-Aces goaltender Guggenberger loses CHL debut

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, adn.com on November 27, 2013

Former Alaska Aces goaltender Mark Guggenberger, who left the team recently and signed with the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League, made his debut for that club tonight.

Guggenberger stopped 36 of 40 shots at Arizona, but he and the Americans fell 5-3 to the Sundogs, who capped things with an empty-net goal.

Guggenberger faced 35 shots in the first two periods, including 20 in the second period, when he surrendered three goals.

Your hockey-is-a-small-world note: Arizona got one assist from defenseman Ryan Gaucher, who played for the Aces on their 2006 Kelly Cup-winning team. Gaucher, 35, still has some game. He owns 2-2--4 totals and a +8 rating in 11 games.
