WASILLA -- A 23-year-old Big Lake resident told Alaska State Troopers he didn't know the two men who broke into a house where he was staying early Thanksgiving Day and then dragged him out of bed and assaulted him.

Benjamin Lawson sustained minor injuries -- bumps and bruises -- in the beating, which occurred at 3:30 a.m. or 4 a.m. Thursday, troopers spokeswoman Beth Ipsen said. "It appears they assaulted him with their fists and maybe kicked him but there was no other instrument used."

The burglars kicked in the door, troopers said in an online posting Friday morning. A woman who lives at the home on Knapp Road saw the assault but was not injured.

Both only described the assailants as "two males," Ipsen said. Nothing was taken from the home.

Lawson initially refused treatment from medics but later sought medical attention at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, troopers said.

It's "more than likely" that the assault was an isolated incident, Ipsen said.
