How erstwhile Aces did for AHL Abbotsford tonight

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on November 29, 2013

The Abbotsford Heat looked a little like the Alaska Aces South tonight, what with five guys in the lineup who have played for the Aces this season.

Four of those guys -- defensemen Kane Lafranchise and James Martin, and wingers Peter Sivak and David Eddy -- were summoned to the Heat this week because of injuries/illnesses in the Calgary-Abbotsford chain. The other guy, goaltender Joni Ortio, has been money for the Heat since an early-season stint with the Aces.

Lafranchise tonight recorded his first career AHL point with an assist -- tonight was his 11th career AHL game, all of them in the last two seasons. He also fired four shots, which was noteworthy because he only had three shots in 10 previous AHL games and never had produced multiple shots in a game.

Sivak had one shot and one penalty, a hooking call with 12 seconds left. Martin was all zeroes. Eddy was -1 with one shot. Ortio stopped 14 of 17 shots.
