Last night I went to a play downtown and parked in one of the city garages. Easy Park charged me $5 upfront to get into that garage with their Black Friday deal. Three hours later, after the play, I left, knowing that the normal evening price is $1 an hour.
My calculation says that I paid a 67 percent premium for what evidently was deemed a privilege. It isn’t the money; it is the principle.
I can remember when, not long ago, parking on some holiday shopping days would be free downtown to encourage shopping there.
