High school hockey roundup for Tuesday, Dec. 3

South 5, East 1

South’s Brendan Jester scored twice Tuesday and the Wolverines thumped East 5-1 in a Cook Inlet Conference hockey game at Ben Boeke Arena. 

Jester scored the only first-period goal on an assist from Croix Evingson, but East bounced back to tie the score at 1-1 early in the second period, thanks to a goal from Jack Reynolds on an assist from Justin Beverlin. 

Tanner Dragomir gave South a 2-1 lead with one second to play in the second period, and the Wolverines put away the win with third-period goals from Tyler Onstott, Jester and Josh Smith.

South goalie Kevin Lake made 12 saves and East goalie Matthew Purvis stopped 31 shots. 


Dimond 5, Chugiak 2

Desmond Conley scored a goal in each period Tuesday, completing a hat trick and accounting for the winning margin in a 5-2 CIC hockey win over Chugiak at the McDonald Center. 

Conley opened scoring on a first-period power play, added his second goal in the final minute of the second period and deposited the game’s final goal with 4:30 to play. Conley also earned two assists, as did Drake Glover, Aidan Teilborg and Josh Larson, who notched Dimond’s two other goals. 

Chugiak knotted the score at 1-1 on a first-period goal from Sam Hanson, and John Hammer kept the Mustangs within striking range heading into the third period when he scored with less than 10 seconds to play in the second to make it 3-2.

Chugiak goalie D.J. Paxson made 34 saves, and Dimond goalie Ashton Good came up with 21.
