Second-period goals by Ilya Turchaninov and Codie Cope were enough to give West a 2-1 Cook Inlet Conference hockey win over Eagle River on Wednesday at Ben Boeke Arena.

After a scoreless first period, Turchaninov struck for the Eagles on a power play with just more than five minutes to play in the period. Cope put the Eagles up 2-0 with less than minute to go in the frame.

Jesse Johnson put Eagle River on the board with 4:38 to play in the third period, getting an assist from Blake Halfpenny.

West goalie Joe Chekan made 10 saves, and Eagle River goalie Justin Lopez stopped 30 shots.
