Kodiak runner Thomet 6th at Foot Locker region championships

Kodiak’s Levi Thomet ran to sixth place in Saturday’s Foot Locker West Region cross country championships in Walnut, Calif.

The boys 5-kilometer race was won by Matthew Maton of Bend, Ore., in 15:39. The next seven runners were separated by four seconds, with Thomet claiming sixth in 15:45.

The finish sends Thomet to the Foot Locker national championships, which will feature the top 10 runners from each of four region meets.

The girls win went to Makena Morley of Bigfork, Mont., in 18:06. No Alaska girls finished the race.
