Police identify man killed in Seward Highway crash

Anchorage Police identified the driver killed Saturday in a collision on the Seward Highway as Robert Brooks, 82.

Brooks was killed in a head-on crash near mile 112 of the highway, north of McHugh Creek, Saturday morning.

Police said they believe Brooks was driving northbound in a Chevrolet Tracker when he slide into the southbound lane, colliding with a Chevy Silverado headed south.

The weather was icy and foggy in the area at the time, police said.

The police investigation of the crash closed the highway for hours Saturday afternoon.
