Weekend weather sends more than 100 vehicles off road

Foggy weather and icy road conditions helped send more than 100 vehicles into ditches over the weekend, Anchorage police dispatchers said.

From Friday to Sunday afternoon first responders recorded a total of 105 vehicles in ditches, 36 accidents and 11 injury accidents on Anchorage-area roadways.

A layer of warm air hanging over Anchorage was to blame for rain that became ice and fog, said National Weather Service hydro-meteorological technician Dave Stricklan.

Cooler temperatures are on the way: Fog should dissipate by Monday, with lows between 10-20 degrees forecast that night.
