— An Anchorage man was arrested Tuesday for sneaking into a hotel kitchen and trying to steal almost $500 worth of food in a pizza box, Alaska State Troopers said.

Troopers arrested Sean Redfern, 26, at the Hotel Alyeska in Girdwood, where he was a guest, at about 6:45 a.m., said Megan Peters, troopers spokeswoman.

Redfern got into the kitchen at 4:30 a.m. and started to stuff a pizza box with vegetables and prepared chicken, shrimp and beef, she said. The food’s value was estimated at $486.00

A hotel security guard stopped Redfern as he left the kitchen, she said.

Redfern was taken by authorities to the Anchorage Correctional Complex and released later that day on $750 bail, according to state records.
