UAF has received a commitment for next season from captain Zach Frye of the USHL's Lincoln Stars, according to that league.

Frye, 19, is a defenseman who owns 1-6--7 totals and a -2 rating in 13 games. He leads the league in PIMs with 96, and in 57 games for Lincoln last season earned 3-8--11 and +23 totals, with 169 PIMs.

In other Nanooks news, former goaltender Chad Johnson continued his fine season as Tuukka Rask's back-up with a 39-save effort Thursday in a 4-2 win over Edmonton.

That makes Johnson, who won his fifth straight game, 6-1-0 with a 1.98 and .928. That tracks with his career totals for the New York Rangers, Phoenix and Boston -- he's 9-3-3 with a 1.98 and .929.
