Papsodora wins riflery gold

AnchorageDecember 17, 2013

Eagle River’s Cathryn Papsodora won a gold medal last weekend in the Junior Olympic Rifle Championships at the E.F. Horton Rifle Range in Fairbanks, where she shot a 386 to win the girls division.

Lathrop’s Connor Gilman won a gold medal with a 566 in the boys division, breaking a tie with Eagle River’s Tristan Henderson by hitting more bulls-eye’s. UAF’s Tim Sherry shot the highest score at 595, but because he isn’t an Alaskan resident, he couldn’t medal.

The event served as a qualifier for the U.S. Junior Rifle Championships in April at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
