The Associated PressDecember 20, 2013

— Alaska's unemployment rate remains steady and below the national average.

The state labor department on Friday said the seasonally adjusted rate for November was 6.5 percent, the same it has been since August.

The national rate was 7 percent.

Last month, 26 of Alaska's 29 borough and census areas saw increases in the unadjusted unemployment rate.

Skagway had the highest unemployment rate at nearly 21 percent, while the City and Borough of Juneau had the lowest at 4.5 percent.
