(Petersburg, Alaska – Dec. 10, 2013) Alaska Longline Company, L.L.C., announces the hire of Michael J. Petersen as general manager. Mike will be responsible for overseeing all business operations for the company. He will be based in the Seattle office with a starting date of Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.
“Mike has served as captain on a wide variety of vessels since 1979 and is a strong and proven leader in the industry,” says Larry Cotter, Alaska Longline Company President. “I know he will be a strong asset and his breadth of experience will benefit the whole company.”
Petersen has extensive experience in the waters of the Bering Sea, Aleutian Islands, Gulf of Alaska, and Washington and Oregon coasts. He has a proven track record of upholding exceptional health and safety standards among crew members, and delivering outstanding product in a timely fashion. “I believe in providing the best tools and the best information possible to the Captain and crew and let them catch the fish,” says Petersen. “Since things change minute-to-minute at sea we rely on their best judgment to keep all on board safe, obey the law and prosper in a very challenging environment.
