Prep hockey for Friday, Dec. 20: Dimond, Eagle River win

Dimond 7, Service 3

Josh Larson and Draka Glover each scored two goals to power league-leading Dimond to a 7-3 Cook Inlet Conference hockey victory over Service at Ben Boeke Arena on Friday.

The game was tied 1-1 after one period but the Lynx grabbed control with four goals in the second to take a 5-2 lead into the third period. All but one of the second-period goals came on the power play.

Service was guilty of eight penalties and Dimond committed six. A player from each team took a 10-minute misconduct.

Garris Hunter, Aidan Teilborg and Blaise Thompson added goals for Dimond, which got an 11-save effort from goalie Ashton Good.

Tyler Miknich gave Service a 1-0 lead with his first-period goal. Bradley Kuiper added a goal in the second period and Michaels Stephens scored in the third period for the Cougars. Goalie Angus Klancher stopped 27 shots.

Eagle River 3, East 2

Jesse Johnson scored the game-winner off an assist by Schuyler Davis, lifting Eagle River past East 3-2 in a CIC hockey game Friday at the McDonald Center.

Johnson’s strike came with 40 seconds left.

East led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Justin Beverlin. Eagle River grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second period on goals by Kory Cain and Blake Rinckey, and East tied it 2-2 on Justin Tapey’s goal with just under five minutes left.

Eagle River pelted East goalie Matthew Purvis, who made 43 saves. Justin Lopez stopped 16 shots for the Wolves.
