Please excuse me but what is this thing we call a federal government? Recent news indicates protecting ducks and eel grass, on which migrating birds might feed, on 300,000 acres of refuge land on the Alaska Peninsula is more important than a single-lane (restricted access!) road from King Cove to Cold Bay that will serve as a route to evacuate sick or injured people in an emergency.
One is ignorant of Peninsula weather to say flying or boat evacuation will serve. Alaska does not have too many roads. It doesn’t have enough!
