Letter: Mail carriers deserve gratitude

December 27, 2013

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of the USPS carriers who were out in the neighborhoods delivering mail and Christmas packages late into the evenings across the city this past week. Maybe a few last-minute online orders weren’t delivered before Christmas morning, but it wasn’t because of lack of effort on their part.

I saw one carrier delivering mail to an apartment building using a headlight to be able to read the addresses in the dark. These men and women are today’s unsung heroes and some of the hardest-working people out there. This is just one more example of our postal carriers making it their priority to see that we as a city, state, and country stay connected to each other.

The next time you see your postal carrier, smile and say “Thanks! They certainly deserve it.
