Margo Lane and Charlie Lamb were tough to beat Monday at the Coca-Cola Holiday Classic Slalom Race at Alyeska Ski Resort, where the Alyeska Ski Club members won a girls and boys title, respectively.
Lane, racing in the U16 division, posted the fastest time each run of the two-run competition, finishing with a combined time of 1 minute, 20.55 seconds to outpace U21 skier Gabrielle Markel (1:22.20).
Lamb, also skiing in the U16 division, posted the fastest boys time in both runs to finish at 1:18.73. The win was Lamb’s first in a Coca-Cola race, and he earned it by less than a second over U21 skier Ross Johnson (1:19.63). Jack Stahla, a U14 skier was third at 1:22.77.
After the morning slaloms, the Alyeska Ski Club held a night parallel race, placing skiers in a bracket and letting them race head-to-head for two runs to earn the right to advance to the next opponent. Lane came out on top in the girls bracket and Clayton Wade won the boys bracket.
