A 13-year-old boy was struck by a pickup truck in Mountain View Friday after he ran into traffic, police said.

The boy was transported to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries, Anchorage police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said in a statement. Police tweeted at 6:11 p.m. that he is in stable condition.

The incident happened about 3:54 p.m., when dispatchers received a call that a vehicle had struck a child on Mountain View Drive near Price Street.

A Dodge Ram pickup was traveling east on Mountain View Drive "when the young boy jumped out into traffic near Price Street and was struck by the truck," Castro said.

The driver of the Dodge was not cited, Castro said.
