Letter: Why does governor accept any federal money?

January 7, 2014

I see our governor is willing to do anything rather than accept the government health care dollars for expanding the Medicaid system. All this does is cause more pain for uninsured and under-insured Alaskans.

Oh well, this money, amounting to millions of dollars, will go to states like Arizona and California. If the objection is to accepting federal money, why does Alaska continue to accept any federal money? The whole state receives far more money than it contributes to the federal government. Sort of like Reagan’s welfare queen.
