Letter: Let’s have a mayor who cares

January 7, 2014

My friend Jim Sweeney says nobody cares. He says Alaskans are fat. Well, Jim, I care.

I want a candidate for mayor who cares too. I want a candidate for mayor who advocates for a living wage; $15 an hour would be a good start. I want a candidate for mayor who thinks it is more important for Anchorage to invest in a proper sewage treatment plant so that the sewage of Anchorage is not dumped into upper Cook Inlet than to waste money on a bridge to nowhere built on geologically unstable ground. I want a candidate for mayor who cares about the homeless, and the way Anchorage treats villagers who visit. I want a candidate for mayor who cares.
