UAA’s M’rcy Matsunami racked up a team-high all-around score and finished second in two events Friday to lead the gymnastics team in its season-opening meet at Seattle Pacific.
Matsunami scored 38.325 in the all-around and placed second in the vault and balance beam in UAA’s 2.55-point loss to the Falcons, who scored 190.750 points to UAA’s 188.200.
Matsunami, who scored 9.625 points in the vault and 9.65 on beam, was UAA’s top performer in three of the four events. In floor exercise, she and teammate Kallie Randolph shared fourth place with scores of 9.675.
Stefany Bryan topped UAA on the uneven parallel bars, placing fifth with a 9.5.
Other top-five finishers for the Seawolves were Julia York (fourth in vault, 9.6) and Nicole Larkin (fifth in beam, 9.325.
