NAHL report: Fairbanks, Kenai River notch one-goal wins

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on January 10, 2014

Crazy NAHL game up in Fairbanks tonight, where the homestanding Ice Dogs logged a 6-5 win over the Minnesota Magicians -- Fairbanks scored the game's first six goals, then gave up the last five.

The Ice Dogs led 6-0 less than eight minutes into the second period. Duggie Lagrone had two goals and a helper in that scoring binge, and Victor Liljegren had two goals.

The Magicians stormed back in large part on Will Johnson's two goals and two assists.

In Soldotna, the scoring was much lower -- the Kenai River Brown Bears beat the Wenatchee Wild 2-1.

Nathan Colwell and Albin Karlsson each furnished power-play goals, and the big hero for the second straight night was goaltender Zach Quinn, who made 42 saves. Quinn made 48 saves in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Wild, giving him 90 saves on 92 shots (.978 save percentage), which is worthy of being the first star, second star and third star in those matches.
