UAA's Kamal is WCHA's Defensive Player of the Week

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on January 14, 2014

No surprise here -- UAA senior Chris Kamal certainly was deserving of being named the WCHA's Defensive Player of the Week.

Kamal stopped 62 of 64 shots on a series sweep of visiting Minnesota State-Mankato -- he stopped 27 shots in Friday's 2-1 win and backed it up with 35 saves in Saturday's 3-1 sweep-clincher.

Kamal, who has made five straight starts, is 4-2-0 with a 2.10 goals-against average and .922 save percentage.

He and the Seawolves (11-9-2, 7-7-2 WCHA, fifth place) this week play a WCHA road series at Alabama-Huntsville.
