Anchorage woman dies of injuries after car crash

A 60-year-old Anchorage woman hurt in a car crash in early January died Friday of her injuries.

Police said Carol Krieter was driving eastbound on Rabbit Creek Road about 12:40 p.m. on Jan. 3 when she lost control of her Saab sedan and steered into oncoming traffic. Her sedan hit a westbound Lexus SUV on a curve near the intersection of Rabbit Creek Road and Bayview Drive, Anchorage police spokeswoman Anita Shell said in an email.

Krieter was taken to a hospital with serious injuries to her neck and leg. She died about 2 p.m. on Friday, Shell said.

The driver of the Lexus, Candace Clawson, 52, was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening arm injuries.

Extremely icy road conditions were a factor in the crash, Shell said.
