Letter: Gov. forgets to split church, state

January 23, 2014

Why, in his 2014 State of the State address where Gov. Parnell said that our public schools are improving, is he proposing that laws be passed to gut them of Alaskans’ public money to spend on partisan religious schools? Has he not heard of the U.S. Constitution’s separation of church and state?

My children, currently being educated in Anchorage public schools, know of the U.S. Constitution and respect it for the great document it is. And why is Parnell using our children’s education as a pawn as he shamelessly blackmails the Legislature to give him Alaskans’ money for religious schools? High school seniors, remember his name: Sean Parnell. Register to vote and run to the polls this Nov. 4 (Tuesday) and vote against Sean Parnell.
