Letter: Driving texters are worse than ice

January 23, 2014

Kevin Meyer is dead-on with his modification to the phone texting law. Distracted driving is rampant around Anchorage, and conditions are already dicey. Traffic doesn’t move like it should when the light changes and drivers are too busy texting to notice. Meanwhile, folks who should have gotten through the light get left sitting through another cycle, everyone is on edge and every red light has a frustrated driver running it. It’s a situation that compounds itself.

The problem is: will the new law be enforced? No enforcement equals no compliance.
