Anchorage police on Monday identified the man involved in a 10-hour standoff with officers in South Anchorage Sunday as 28-year-old Iqqagak Glen Miller.

Police found Miller dead of an apparent suicide in his apartment at about 3 p.m. Sunday. They responded to the 9000 block of Williams Jones Circle, off the Old Seward Highway, early that morning after a woman told neighbors Miller was threatening her life. Police also said he had a weapon.

Police evacuated the apartment building and tried to convince Miller to surrender, using a PA system, noise frequencies and gas, police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said. No cause of death had been determined as police awaited autopsy and toxicology results, Castro said Monday.
