Lammers, Hanneman ski to Besh Cup wins in Fairbanks

Anchorage Daily NewsFebruary 1, 2014

Reese Hanneman, racing on his hometown trails for the first time since his triumphant showing at the national championships, cruised to victory Saturday in the men’s 10-kilometer freestyle race at the Besh Cup ski series in Fairbanks.

Hanneman, who collected gold, silver and bronze at the U.S. Championships last month in Utah, skated to a comfortable win over Lex Treinen. The two men train together in Alaska Pacific University’s nordic ski program.

A Lathrop High graduate, Hanneman posted a time of 24 minutes, 18.4 seconds. Treinen finished in 24:27.9.

In the women’s 5-K, Sarrissa Lammers of Alaska Nordic Racing was the only skier to finish in less than 15 minutes. Her time of 14:49.3 put her comfortably ahead of runnerup Hannah Stevens (15:06.8).
