NAHL report: Kenai River falls in OT; Fairbanks falls in shootout

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, on February 1, 2014

Alaska's two entries in the NAHL each pocketed a point tonight -- the Kenai River Brown Bears lost to visiting Wenatchee 2-1 in overtime and the Fairbanks Ice Dogs squandered a pair of three-goal leads on the road and fell 5-4 in a shootout to Corpus Christi.

Kenai River's Matt Rubin scored early in the third period to gain a 1-1 tie, but Wenatchee's Troy Loggins capped his first two-goal game in the NAHL with a goal 42 ticks into OT. Both Kenai River's Zack Quinn and Wenatchee's Chase Perry made 29 saves.

Fairbanks led 3-0 after one period and 4-1 after two, then gave up three goals in a span of 6:18 deep into the third period -- the last one coming with Corpus Christi's goalie pulled for an extra attacker -- and lost the shootout 2-0.
