South 61, East 59
Sadie Hodgson’s 3-pointer with four seconds to go lifted South to a thrilling 61-59 win over East in a Cook Inlet Conference girls basketball game Monday.
South scored five points in the final 11 seconds for the win. Nicole McCormick hit a layup with 11 seconds left to cut East’s lead to one point, and then Zulia Cole stole the ball and got it to Hodgson for the game-winner.
Hodgson finished with 13 points and seven steals and Taylor Murray piled up 12 points, 12 rebounds and five steals for the Wolverines. Sabrina Ungaro added 13 points and eight steals.
Taria Page’s 22 points for East led all scorers. Tennae Voliva added 14 points and Dajah Motuga 11 for the T-birds.
Bartlett 43, Chugiak 42
Kiera Stokes poured in seven points in the final quarter Monday to help Bartlett hold on for a 43-42 squeaker over Chugiak in a CIC game at Bartlett.
Stokes finished with a game-high 17 points.
Cheyenne Mann drained four 3-pointers for 12 points for the Golden Bears, who trailed 23-20 at the half but rallied for a 31-30 lead after three quarters. Tiffany Michels (8 points) and Sudana Moyong (6) were the only other scorers for Bartlett.
Hannah Russel lead a balanced Chugiak attack with 13 points.
West 66, Service 43
CeCe Cockerham netted 20 points and Marshala Eady added 18 to fuel West’s 66-43 win over Service in a CIC game at West.
Cockerham pumped in 14 points in the second quarter to lead the Eagles to a 34-19 halftime lead.
Alissa Nanez gave Service a boost with 14 points, and Kate Benfield, the team’s only senior, contributed eight points and five rebounds.
Dimond 73, Eagle River 19
Rohyn Huss racked up a double-double and three others scored in double figures Monday in Dimond’s 73-19 CIC rout of host Eagle River.
Huss amassed 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Lynx. Tara Thompson, who was 4 of 8 from 3-point range, scored a team-high 16 points, Dejha Canty added 15 and Justin Anderson chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds.
Samantha Coy tossed in seven points and grabbed five rebounds for Eagle River.
