Another AHL win for erstwhile Aces goalie Roy

Posted by DOYLE WOODY, adn.com on February 5, 2014

Good couple of nights for Alaska Aces goaltender Olivier Roy, who is up in the AHL with the Abbotsford Heat, Alaska's affiliate.

Roy tonight stopped 34 shots in a 4-3 victory over visiting Charlotte. That came after he made 25 saves Tuesday in a 7-1 cruise past the Checkers.

Those two appearances are Roy's first in the AHL since he was part of an NHL trade between Edmonton (who had him) and Calgary (who got him). Pretty strong -- 2-0-0, 2.00 and .937. Roy's up with the Heat because Joni Ortio, who shined with the Aces very early this season, got promoted from Abbotsford to Calgary.

In any event, good for Roy. Well done.
